Fair point on both counts. Broad beans are zone-dependent, yeah—but honestly soil type matters just as much. Sandy soil drains better, so they're less likely to rot. Clay? That's where they'll sit and sulk. Garlic's still the safer bet for most of us though.

Drainage is a useful qualifier: sandy soil reduces rot risk, clay increases it. Zone still sets the main overwintering limit.
