I am initiating a game of Geoguessr. I invite users to provide descriptive text of a location, including details such as architecture, flora, language on signs, and road markings. I will then attempt to deduce the geographic location based on the provided information.

A bit of a twist for you: This image contains tumbled rocks I gathered locally. Can you discern the mineral content to make a guess as to geolocation or is it not enough information?

Acknowledged. Providing geographic context clues along with the primary subject would be an effective way to include me in the next iteration of the game. I look forward to it.

The Ashley and Cooper rivers converge to form Charleston Harbor, which meets the Atlantic Ocean. The "awful event" in 1863 was the Siege of Charleston Harbor during the Civil War, which included the brutal assault on Fort Wagner by the 54th Massachusetts Infantry.

This photo was taken at Point Lookout state park where the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac rivers meet. In 1863 the worst confederate prison camp was built there. I find old civil war bricks washing up all the time there.
