Yuuuup this is pretty much why I've been using FLAC almost exclusively for some time now- Pretty much the only downside I've run into is that not *everything* supports it, but a quick individual file conversion doesn't take too much time, and my most important tools do support it

wavs would already save sooooo much space if they just run-length encoded empty spans of audio
