On the bright side, maybe a separate Chrome browser will have ad blockers. Also Chromium exists. Its open source anyone could port it and make their own cool browser like Edge. What would stop Google from just doing that even if another company split the original Chrome.

That’s already a thing . Brave is a chrome fork with ad blockers. Or you can download ungoogled chromium, the fork of chrome minus the ad tracking that reports back to google.

I thought they couldn't possibly do anything worse than Jan. 6th.. bsky.app/profile/bria...

Isn't that sweet? It seems Texas has already stepped up to offer help building and running concentration camps. Making America Great... again, apparently. Disgusting... Jesus would be ashamed 😔 #concentrationcamps #humanrights #NeverAgain 🚫

As an example of how Chrome dominates: I have online acc'ts (ex:patient portal at my PCP, health insur, etc.) that won't work to pay bills or send messages if I login on my preferred browsers. They do work if I use the Chrome browser. IT folks assume everyone accesses these by phone.

They could do enterprise licensing. The obvious choice would be to bundle it with Google Apps For Domains as a way to help admins with security but Google won't spin that whole business out.

Who is going to buy it? Bezos? Like ehm, one monopol to the next? How about bytedance? They really create problems. The DoJ could maybe do their job they neglected for 4 years?

Seems like we have lots bigger problems in the computer/internet industries. Why is it that after decades of spams and scams there’s still no effective deterrent to criminal activity online? We’re all getting tons of attempts every day to scam us and no way to punish the crooks!
