Constitution doesnt prevent a convicted felon from running for office. There are however different laws about a convicted felons ability to be sworn into office. If you can’t be sworn in, it’s problem This is a serious legal scholar issue that goes beyond the constitution

He's the president or rather, even when he wasn't the president the Secret Service said there was no way they could set up a secure environment for him in any prison even if they moved a large team of agents into the prison which the prison system refuses. At best he was going to get home arrest.

Oh Lord! If he got time I'd sponsor a parade up and down Broadway. If only Judge Merchan had an angel (all dressed in blue) conjure up a revelation overnight that Diddy, Harvey, Bankman-Fried and Luigi needed company for 45 or 47 years minimally.

It's not "punishment" if there is no punishment. I would hope that at the very least he has more fines to pay and they take his NJ golf course finally if he won't pay. He already owes NY and E Jean Carroll hundreds of millions of dollars.

Delaying Sentencing Would Just Mean That Laws Are Useless, And That None Of Us Are Required To Abide By Them... That's The Point... COMMIT THE CRIME, REQUIRES DOING THE TIME, Failure To Get Prison Time For 34 Felonies Is Already A Mockery Of The Justice System.

RIGHT-WINGERS ARE BLAMING THE L.A. FIRES ON DIVERSITY Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and commentators across conservative media are blaming the blazes on everything but the climate crisis By NIKKI MCCANN RAMIREZ, RYAN BORT JANUARY 9, 2025

Even if he lost the election we were not going to put a former president in prison over that. House arrest, maybe. Trump won though so the conviction on the books is all we're going to get really and for me, that was the point. I never thought there would be any punishment.

He's gonna get a slap on the wrist and then be declared king god of America by his cult. God forbid the American people be a little less spineless and actually enforce our laws equally- even when it's inconvenient.

You are not technically "whatever it was that the jury found you" (convicted in this case) convicted until the sentencing portion is complete. If Trump was able to stop this, he's not technically a convicted felon in the history books.

I’m pretty sure the Supreme Court cannot delay the sentencing for a state crime. It feels like “refused” is the wrong word here. If SCOTUS did step in, it would mean state judiciaries have no power over state laws. It would have been a massive overstep of power and more corrupt than usual.

For all practical purposes, he wasn’t sentenced. Instead, the judge just formalized the idea that if you’re sufficiently powerful, you can commit as many felonies as you like, and show not a bit of remorse, and you won’t even get a slap on the wrist.
