Its also just so nonsensical and completely ignores how children work. They explore and question EVERYTHING and if you don't answer honestly, they won't stop. No one benefits here at all. It is a futile gesture meant only to harm as many people as possible.

I say it from this angle, because to a few sensible people the idea of teaching kids about sex (or any word containing sex) is problematic and they're not being completely unreasonable in that. Some things are only appropriate based on age. And what this does is ban age appropriate discussion of

something kids WILL ask about. Not all trans people are passing (they don't have to) but there will be children who spot that and ask about it - loudly. We know from other situations, predominantly race and visible disability, that saying 'don't look' or 'don't ask' does not have the desired effect
