I wish attr() could be used for <url> values like background-image, I appreciate this is a mess, see: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W... But this has got to be the main use case. I’m still annoyed at the complex or insecure CSP workarounds a CMS needs to use to set a background image.

Yeahhhh, security said no to this. Hopefully it's something we can look at again, later down the line.

I just can’t see the diff (from a security point of view) between: background-image: url(attr(data-icon)); background: image-set(attr(data-icon));

I'm confused, in the above post it says "CSS scroll snap & scroll events", but scrollsnap events aren't part of interop?! github.com/web-platform...
