Saw it last night. Powerful. Haunting. Even though I was one of those "alarmists" warning friends, family, colleagues, and leadership at organizations where I freelanced, and even though I expected some version of this, the speed of implementation and intensity is stupefying.

I have been reading Timothy Snyder’s On Freedom, and find Aliya Rahman’s description of ICE agents referring to the people in detention as “Bodies” particularly chilling.

It's an uncivilized immigration policy. Mass deportation like the NAZIS of those considered undesirable now Trump's mass deportation by "whatever is necessary". A NAZI System! THOSE who thought mass deportation a good idea, these detention centers have their names on them, too!

I barely slept last night-unusual for me. I spent years teaching/researching in several ME countries not exactly known for their adherence to human rights law.. Yet anytime I saw a similar situation I could console myself by saying, "At least this isn't my home." No more..my America is gone..

I watched her outstanding, powerful, heartrending testimony and the enraging video of her being brutally assaulted. I will never understand how anyone can condone the horrifyingly inhuman acts nor comprehend the GOP ignoring them. Our nation is in a CRISIS!

I cried when I heard her tell her story. It is shameful that we have government employees carrying out this terror, president praising them. Those ICE guys are unfit for the job. ICE has been corrupted from the top down, time to shut it down. There are better ways to enforce immigration laws.

And NO Republicans willing to attend. Sick and horrifying behavior that 30% of Americans thinki is great!! Besides all the fundamentally unconstitutional and illegal behavior, why are people so complacent about this only happening in blue states? This is depravity.

Thank you. I weep. Her strength and clear articulation of this horror despite her invisible disability is astonishing. So many profound lessons here.

I watched all day yesterday and just cried. I just read Night by Elie Wiesel last night. I've read it several times but this time it jumped out how much it sounds like what's happening here. I don't think people realize these things don't happen overnight. Its gradual cutting of our rights.
