I’m so glad that the Crowd Patron has a home with Horizons and Wildmage Press. I can’t wait to dig into the rest of the articles this weekend, but I’m so honored my work is in this issue with so many of the greats in tabletop game design.

The Crowd Patron counts among its influences Undertale, Dragonball Z, N. K. Jemisin’s The City We Became, and, yes, Twitch Chat. It is a love letter to the people who inspire us, to the people who shoulder burdens so we don’t have to, to giving yourself to something bigger than yourself.

It’s also obviously a bit, which is the only game design I know how to do. Thank you to Hannah and Clara, to the testers and editors, and to @nikkidawes.bsky.social for bringing this warlock to life. Go forth with fervor, and make your patrons proud!
