indie devs either need to hire someone to run their blogs and socials or just be quiet because the venn diagram of people who can make good games and people who can communicate well to the public seems to be 2 circles barely touching

I don't, actually. I get what you're trying to say to a point, but "hire someone or don't promote your game" is a bit of a stretch don't you think?

i'm not talking about promoting games, i am talking about when one gets swept up in a bit of controversy and chooses to post through it, which is usually a mistake and staying quiet would be preferable.

As an aside, you can see I'm also an indie dev, so when approaching my post do you think it's reasonable to jump to the conclusion that I'd be saying "don't promote your game yourself if you can't afford to pay someone" instead of considering that maybe I was getting at something more sensible?
