I've just met a tik tok refugee bsky.app/profile/meow... and I think we are in for a tumble.

This was a move to consolidate Meta's monopoly, they were threatened by TikTok, nothing else.

For a few days, boys and girls have the chance to detox from this insanity. Go out, meet with friends, tell your schoolmates you have a crush on them, ride a bike, appreciate the nature around you... Enjoy the real life!

TikTok was accessible for me via VPN and web browser. Don't know about login/account restrictions since I don't have an account.

Don't be naive. This was a move to consolidate Meta's monopoly not to protect anyone's privacy. If that was the case Facebook would have been banned after the Cambridge Analitica scandal.

Thankfully, the citizenry will not learn anything or analyze shit. We can be assured people will whine that they can't get their 30 second blocks of dopamine continuously and hyperventilate showing others why TikTok is good. My favorite is when they mention that billionaire groups invested in it.

I'm not sure where I made it sound easy, or even suggested that any of these solutions would work, especially dodgy APKs that promise to fix it all for you with zero effort. Just that there will be a resurgence of interest in these things, with consequences.
