Since last year, we’ve been reporting on ICE extensively. But every week brings new information, and it’s getting harder to keep track of what’s happening, let alone remember what’s already happened. So here’s a quick thread to help.

Back in June (we know, it honestly feels like a lifetime ago), WIRED obtained hundreds of emergency calls from ICE detention centers. www.wired.com/story/ice-de...

On January 7, ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis. Almost immediately, the federal government began pushing a narrative that wildly conflicted with video footage shared online. www.wired.com/story/maga-t...

We then reported that GoFundMe allowed a fundraiser tied to the potential legal defense of the ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Good to remain online, despite company rules barring fundraisers connected to violent crimes. www.wired.com/story/gofund...

Soon after, the state of Minnesota, along with the Twin Cities, sued the US government and several officials in an attempt to halt the flood of agents carrying out an ICE operation. www.wired.com/story/minnes...

We also reviewed internal ICE planning documents that proposed spending up to $50 million on a privately run network capable of shipping immigrants in custody hundreds of miles across the Upper Midwest. www.wired.com/story/ice-de...

Ummm, how do we KNOW they are actually federal agents? They refuse to show any proof of that. I can get the same outfits and badges online, easy, and tell them I am also ICE, but it doesn't make it true. So, why should any of us believe them without actual proof?
