had claude help fix my FPS in FF14 and i'm actually pretty impressed. went from 45 in limsa to 144 trivial stuff: - lact, nvidia power limiting medium stuff: - .__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SIZE, adding shader cache to my preservation config - extra cpupower lines in my gamemode config

harder stuff: - found a kernel leak in my nvidia driver, downgraded to the proper version in nixos that doesn't have it - navigated my weird preservation+btrfs setup, created an optimized subvolume, moved ffxiv game data there and reconfigured xivlauncher - messed around with ntsync (TBD)

it also identified some weird interaction between sunshine holding a cuda context and the pstates on my gpu getting locked because of it. this is all stuff I could have done but it would have taken longer. ended up compiling a report, reviewing, and integrating it into my nix config for the machine.

idk if id recommend someone who doesnt know what they're doing to also do this, but I was pretty impressed I could give it a task like this and it would make interesting progress.
