useful fact: JIS screwdrivers work in Philips screws just fine. Philips screwdrivers will destroy a JIS screw in short order. this leads to lots of stripped screws on old ham radios

If you’re working on Japanese things, (cameras and stuff) they often use JIS screws, not Philips. 👍🏼

h m Is there *any* reason to have Phillips screwdrivers, or would Pozidriv and JIS cover every common +-shaped screw?

JIS fits slightly loosely but won't damage a Philips screw. I think there are a few Japanese brands (Vessel is one) that sell only JIS screwdrivers as Philips. It's probably fine.
