#OtD 20 Aug 1998 the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in Khartoum North, Sudan, was destroyed by the US military, killing one worker and injuring 11. The US claimed it was making nerve gas but really it supplied half of all medicines used in Sudan stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/7829...

Absolutely devastating. The Al Shifa plant had been taken out on the direct orders of Bill Clinton. The strike was in retaliation for Osama bin Laden’s recent bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. jacobin.com/2016/10/bill...

I remember campaigning against this attack on the streets of Christchurch, NZ. 'The US wouldn't do that' was a common response. I bet that would be a much less common response today.
