And yet, my 34 yr old son who owns his own successful business can’t afford to buy a starter home in the Midwest because his rent is outrageous and over the last 2 years, his gas bill has almost doubled, his health care premiums have increased significantly, and his grocery bills have increased.

Duh. Your failure of a son wasn't born to Bill Gates parents. Maybe if you weren't so lazy and had direct connections to the heads of mega corporations. You could have given your son the economic privilege required to become one of the economic elite robbing all of you.
