Not only am I afraid of feeling/"realizing" that I'm not as skilled as I'd hoped, but also putting it out and being perceived as less skilled than I'm capable of. The perception angle primarily comes from anticipating potential employers' eyes, but I do also consider my peers to some extent. (2/7)

This is both in regards to whatever I generally write on social media and specifically WORK that I post (and it's why I rarely actually post anything haha). I'd like to create something new every day, even most days. But it's exhausting to put all of my work under such strict scrutiny. (3/7)

So when I make things, it's a TON of effort to perfect it as much as I can (within the timeframe I have, if applicable). So while everything that I do is charged with an insane amount of thought, my progress is inconsistent and exhausting. And that strangles the enjoyment out of what I do. (4/7)

It's difficult to curtail this, and I've tried many times to just let myself be okay with my work not looking great or sounding great for the sake of just creating/experimenting. But it's tough! Especially with the job market I'm trying to break into, it feels like every little thing matters. (5/7)

But y'know; everything's a journey. It takes practice to focus on your own enjoyment and identity as an artist and less on a vague perceived perfection. Hopefully over time I can keep practicing to just be more open about who I am and what I like to make and what my work sounds like! (6/7)

If you made it down here, I'm wishing you success and artistic fulfillment. I kinda just wrote this for myself (I gotta do that more on socials), but if you related to this, I hope it helped to show you're not alone. It's rough out here, and we've gotta be rough back. Good luck!! (7/7)
