Sea surface temperatures continued to warm in the far eastern Pacific in April, as El Niño is likely to develop (find trusted sources to follow & not just the hype). Note also the significant marine heatwave stretching from near Hawaii to California/Mexico! Data: www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/opt...)

Isn't this post coming too late, now that we know that almost every model indicates that by the end of 2026 we will experience an additional warming of nearly +0.6°C (anomaly) of the global mean SST, and very likely the first calendar year that will exceed +2°C compared to the 1850-1900 baseline?

Will this reduce the likelihood of named storms in the Atlantic basin but increase the risk of typhoons in the pacific? Do you think this will increase monsoons in the SW or increase winter precipitation. seems early for a El Nino to be setting up? But we did have summer in March….

A number of other environmental factors can affect tropical cyclone count, so that is definitely possible associated with typical ENSO teleconnections but each event is unique (especially in a warming world).
