"Although El Niño often provides a temporary boost to global temperatures (and La Niña has the opposite effect), these new global climate records are ultimately being driven by human-caused climate change." ➡️ Our latest monthly climate report: www.climatecentral.org/climate-brie...

Exactly. El Niño boosts temperatures temporarily, but accumulating greenhouse gases create a long-term upward trend in temperatures. So a short-term boost added to long-term upward trend give record high temps—which 2027 is likely to be because of the lag between El Niño peak and surface temps.

In addition to El Niño & steady GHG warming, we are also experiencing rapid warming from a reduction in cooling (but deadly) aerosols, including the IMO 2020 change in ship fuel regulations that lowered sulfur in ships by 80%. @leonsimons.com
