Bad AAPL

Why do color changes always appear in clusters that move throughout the diagram? What makes the cluster move across the diagram in such an organic manner?

Could be that the stocks are arranged with neighbors in categories, tech at upper left, banking at mid right, etc. etc. so when categories of business are going in and out of favor with the news, neighboring blocks are flipping green/red. On the other hand, I could be utterly, completely wrong.

It probably is, but what determined the proximity / order of the different categories in the chart? After all they "guessed" right and the neighboring categories seem to interact with one another.
