I agree with everyone--the family of robins nesting in a head--what an image! I like the matter of fact tone, too, that plays along with the surreal image.

Hi Mike. Some of the comments imply you experienced something that this was based on. Not prying, but so happy to learn that you are also OK and healing. You created something so compelling from this, resisting falling into what we might expect and writing something novel and fresh! 👏✨

Sorry to have misled you Dean. The poem is entirely a work of my imagination. However, an hour or so after drafting it, I was admitted to hospital with a rapid heartbeat which was eventually diagnosed as a supraventricular tachycardia, which sounds much more serious than it is. I'm out and OK now.
