Ok I guess I can talk about it now that it's basically done. Firebot is getting a chat widget for the overlay Soon™ The overlay widget system that @biggz.dev built late last year laid some groundwork for it. But chat hasn't lived outside of the Dashboard before. So it still needed a lot of work. 🧵

One part of that was building the actual HTML of the chat widget. Twitch chat messages have a lot of parts, and we want folks to be able to highly customize their chat widgets. Toggles for things like timestamps, avatars, badges, etc. Colors, fonts, and display styles. But also, a big one? Pronouns.

Prior to the code I committed on stream earlier tonight, pronouns were really only managed on the frontend where the main Firebot UI lives. That means the chat feed on the Dashboard was the only real place we could use/display pronouns (we also have a pronouns variable, but it's a little different).

In order to properly manage pronouns for both the Dashboard AND for the chat widget, pronoun logic needed to move to a single location in the backend, then we'd need to cleanup/remove the old frontend logic that would get replaced. That's what I did tonight on stream. Now, the chat widget is DONE.

tl;dr: New chat overlay widget coming in the next @firebot.app update, featuring: - Timestamps - Avatars - Badges - Pronouns - Emotes - /me actions (old AND new style) - Announcements - User filtering - Highlighted msgs - Shared chat support - Optional delay and auto dismiss - Entry/exit animations
