also can't help but feel FUCKING OMINOUS FORESHADOW because when Stolas and Blitz are REALLY getting at it and the anger and hurt moments flare up we see Lilith and Lucifer's murals hanging behind them respectively on opposite ends GUYS we are in for Lilith and Lucifer yelling argument in S3😭

And the thing is the shows never tries to sugarcoat the oppression inflicted by the ruling class either. The show not only says that this relationship doesn't reflect class dynamics in real life 1:1, but Stolas is actually an exception to the norm when it comes to how his class treats the poor.

It also really flattens Blitz's character, if you deny the ways he can and does harm other people. If it's bad for Blitz to treat Moxxie or Verosika like shit, it should be bad for him to do it to Stolas, otherwise it's just "most oppressed person is right" and that's so fucking boring.

We’re meant to understand how someone like him could miss the “red flags”, especially since it was Blitzø who instigated their sexual relationship. Does this mirror the way these dynamics would realistically play out in the real world? Absolute not. But it’s not supposed to.

the circus takes time to set up a dynamic that’s much more complicated than “wealthy person hoarding their power over a poor person”. There’s a reason why the show wants us to see that it’s Blitzø who chases a reluctant Stolas around his room and ties him up without a conversation.

The show is using wealthy/working class romance tropes to explore specific themes with Blitzø & Stolas, so while class dynamics are important to their relationship, they’re not going to perfectly mirror real life versions of these dynamics & shouldn’t be analyzed solely through that lens

I made a thread that relates to this. I think people make the mistake of forgetting that the class dynamics between Blitzø and Stolas are fictionalized archetypes used to explore complex relationships and we shouldn’t analyze their relationship as a 1:1 depiction of real life class differences
Generally enjoy tbskyen analysis, but i do think he’s unwilling to engage with the fact Stolas’s emotions were taken advantage of because he projects real life class dynamics onto the show in a 1:1 way when that’s not what the show is going for.

People will justify singling them out because of the privilege they hold over their people and complain about the narrative not holding them accountable for it, especially Stolas. But they ONLY prioritize the class aspect, centering their character analysis on that at the expense of all the others.
or maybe they can, extremely selectively. i mean, they'll insist the gay socially isolated owl is the oppressor because of a misunderstanding that involved sex, or they'll insist the parent-pleasing princess with abandonment trauma is toxic and selfish bc of how her trauma manifests
