People need to wake up and realise that Capitalism is about charging people as much as possible to NOT provide things. US Health Insurance and Insurance in general being the best examples. Without a Government who stop them, you will be paying everything to get nothing.

MPs second jobs are institutionalised bribery. They should be banned. Prime duty of MPs is to serve the people, not corporations or their bank accounts. Preventing MPs from selling their souls to the highest bidder is a necessary step in democratising parliament leftfootforward.org/2025/01/mps-...

Privatisation's thirst for profit will never be quenched. It's time to take our water back Since privatisation, water companies have racked up massive debts while paying out huge sums to shareholders – and the public pay the price www.bigissue.com/opinion/wate...

CPTPP membership is going to be so “amazing” that Rishi Sunak’s government predicted it would grow the economy by a tiny 0.08% (it later emerged that even that may be an overestimate) and that was after 15 years of membership! Contrast 4% loss of GDP due to Brexit youtu.be/FR4m8rop98E?...

US to pressure UK to import American meat in Trump trade deal. Food which doesn't meet EU standards will be imported by the UK - inc. chlorinated chicken, hormone-fed beef. Will destroy UK farming and mega carbon emissions too. Better to rejoin the EU. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Spain built a 385.9 mile high speed train line from Madrid to Barcelona it cost £8.1bn. The UK is still building a 140 mile high speed train line which will cost over £100bn. Who is stealing all the money?

Private equity is a horror story for the NHS – one fifth of budget goes to it. Privatised services treat 10% of patients, 3% in 2011. 59,000 private contracts in the NHS. 30%-40% of money vanishes in profits, longer queues persist. End privatisation. www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/...

A lot of talk again today about the need for economic growth but no mention that the OBR report the government is quoting from says Brexit is on course to cut UK trade by a staggering 15% - a huge reduction in the potential economic performance of the country at a time when every penny counts

Peter Stefanovic@peterstefanovic.bsky.social

In a significant Intervention Bank of England governor said this week that Brexit has undermined the UK economy. @skynews.com.web.brid.gy didn’t think that was important enough to raise with the Government Minister this morning. I disagree. If you do too share this report youtu.be/jvo1JM6xZqQ?...

You are up to date.
