U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (@heinrich.senate.gov): “Rewiring America has played an important role in advancing policies that help electrify and bring down costs for American households. Ari brought vision, persistence, and message clarity to that work, and I applaud him for his leadership.”

Rewiring America Co-Founder Alex Laskey: “Ari has been the ultimate partner over the last six years. Rewiring America would not be the organization it is today without his persistent, brilliant, and deeply committed leadership.”

Rewiring America Co-Founder Saul Griffith: “When we started RA, we had a big idea, a lot of urgency, and a clear need for a competent adult in the room. Ari was that person. He brought the discipline and leadership needed to turn that early momentum into something durable and influential.”

Crops and cattle get shade, and clean power gets made 🤝 Across Minnesota, farmers are adopting agrivoltaics, the combination of solar power generation and agriculture on one site. Here’s how it’s helping Big Lake Farm: apnews.com/article/big-...

“Heat pump rates are important for customer fairness, but they’re also really important to unlock the full greenhouse-gas reduction opportunities from heat pumps.” Our very own Alex Lopez spoke with @canarymedia.com about Massachusetts’ winter energy discounts for homeowners with heat pumps:

Stronger homes, stronger communities, stronger grid ⚡️ Today, we join our friends at PG&E and Google to announce the SHARE initiative, a first-of-its-kind program that will enroll thousands of Bay Area customers into a virtual power plant, lowering energy bills and free up grid capacity.

A big thanks to our partners at Carrier, Tesla, Sunrun, Renew Home, and Demand Side Analytics for their roles in making SHARE possible. Together, we aim to model a smart, reliable, sustainable approach to power homes and manage the electrical grid.

By installing new batteries, smart thermostats, and heat pumps in 500 homes, as well as connecting existing ones across the Bay Area, SHARE can reduce energy use during periods of high demand, all while lowering household energy bills.

We’d call this a smart moOOoOooOve, but that’d be too cheesy. The world’s oldest cheddar-maker is trying something new: using heat pumps to streamline their operations. Here’s how their set-up is saving money, slashing pollution, and churning out excellent cheese.

“As a first-timer, this system has me at ease about what's possible the next time our power goes out.” Thinking about getting a home battery system? For @zdnet.bsky.social, @jasonhowell.bsky.social dives into the benefits of adding one to his home energy and solar set-up.

Rewiring CEO Ari Matusiak: “The distress and disillusionment at the kitchen table and in communities around the country and the energy system we need to power our 21st century economy lies in American households, treating them not as passive consumers footing the bill but as energy infrastructure.”

rewiringamerica.orgWriting a better energy story for American householdsShared Power means seeing American households as core energy infrastructure worth investing in, not just passive energy consumers.

Numbers = crunched. Earlier this year, we released our Homegrown Energy blueprint, which presents six policy proposals that would make home energy upgrades affordable for 96% of eligible households. Our Lead Data Scientist Miki Verma explains the power of these policies to help families save:

If that sounds familiar, it’s because we at Rewiring America have been championing this vision for the past year. We call it Homegrown Energy, a way for hyperscalers to pay for household energy tech, like solar panels and batteries, that provides capacity and stability to the grid.

From our CEO Ari Matusiak, who served on Governor Sherrill’s transition team: “New Jersey just set a national precedent. […] This is how we meet growing electricity demand, protect ratepayers, and build the next generation of energy infrastructure from the household up.”

These bills will help in three key ways: - Reduce unnecessary utility costs - Strengthen oversight of grid investments - Ensure large data centers pay their fair share instead of shifting costs onto New Jersey families and small businesses.

Let’s talk about that third one. New Jersey's Data Center Fair Share Act marks the first time a state has created a policy pathway for data centers to fund verified demand flexibility, including energy efficiency, demand response, behind-the-meter storage, and managed electrification.
