There’s a good chance you had no idea Rep. LaMonica McIver is being targeted. She’s literally the only member of Congress the Trump regime has indicted. Where is the energy to support her?? They’re trying to make an example out of McIver.

And you better believe that if they succeed she may be the first, but she won’t be the last. So say something before it’s too late.

Far right bigots are circulating racist caricatures of Rep. LaMonica McIver, like this one. Commenters are saying horrific things like, “the baby’s name should be a number,” and “the baby daddy can bring it to visit.” But please, go on about how misogynoir isn’t real 🙄

This is Rep. LaMonica McIver. Trump’s so-called Department of Justice is prosecuting her, alleging that she interfered with an arrest in May 2025 outside of the Delaney Hall ICE facility. If convicted she faces up to 17 years in prison.

The party of family values is trying to incarcerate a pregnant Black woman and mother of one for doing her job and conducting oversight. Let that sink in.

I'll never forget watching Tim Curry in Home Alone 2. That franchise was such a beautiful part of my childhood. His whimsy and willingness to take risks as an actor has left a lasting imprint. RIP Tim Curry 💔

The goal of going into public office shouldn’t be to stay in power forever. It should be to do good work, build something lasting, and steward the next generation of leaders. I honor and revere the wisdom of my elders, AND I think wisdom means knowing where your efforts are best utilized,

when to wield the power and privilege you have, and when it’s time to pass the baton. Power is a responsibility, not something to hoard.

A few things can be true at once: 1) Keeping the FL-20 primary so crowded was a poor strategic choice if the priority was continuing more than three decades of Black representation 2) Debbie Wasserman Schultz choosing to enter FL-20 rather than fight to hold on to her seat in FL-22 was a bizarre

decision in a moment when Republicans are aggressively redistricting Black representatives out of their seats and 3) 45% of FL-20 voters who showed up to the polls still chose her. We gotta sit with that.

I resent that for the rest of our lives we’ll have to contend with the harm Donald Trump has caused and will continue to cause

It's almost shabbat ✨

Outside groups have spent more than $60 million trying to get Haley Stevens elected. Call me crazy, but if it takes $60 million to convince Michigan you're the best person for the job, maybe it's because you're not the best person for the job.

Still not over the fact that Lizzy Savetsky really put her lips together to say that Elon Musk can't be antisemitic because he had a baby with a Jewish woman. As if he didn't do a whole a** sieg heil on live television! SMFH.

13 June

The guy who did a sieg heil just became the world’s first trillionaire? Yeah that checks out.

In 1990, five individuals left a burning cross in the yard of a biracial family on the North Side of Chicago. One of those individuals possessed KKK literature. They were ultimately charged with ethnic intimidation.

Lest we forget, white nationalists don’t f*ck with interracial partnerships or multiracial kids, like me. While the influence of the KKK has declined over recent years, it very much still exists.

In many ways calling states red or blue is a misnomer. 1) No state is monolithic politically and 2) the sweeping presumption that blue states are automatically safe is reductive. Bigotry lives everywhere.

This week a cross was set on fire in Grant Park, right in the heart of downtown Chicago. For over 100 years the KKK has burned crosses to terrorize and intimidate Black communities. Those cross burnings were often accompanied by lynchings. So to see something like this in my city is horrifying.

During WWI and WWII millions of victory gardens popped up across the country. I just don't think it's a coincidence that gardening has become such a huge trend online over the last few months. In times of strife, we often turn to food sovereignty practices for relief.

Seeing AI slop on my feed genuinely pisses me off

One thing to know about me is that I am absolutely obsessed with living a non-toxic healthy lifestyle. You would not believe how many hours I've spent researching food supply chains and meticulously selecting beauty and household products from the EWG website.

The food is poisoned with pesticides. The water is filled with pfas chemicals. The livestock is pumped full of growth hormones and antibiotics. And there are microplastics in f*cking everything! Are we just supposed to go along and pretend like this is normal??

I was today years old when I learned that the Heritage Foundation had a Black woman president from 2018-2021. Her name is Kay Coles James and she has spent her entire career curating conservative policies, first under Ronald Reagan and later under George H.W. Bush.

Reminded every d*mn day that not all skinfolk are kinfolk!

Do No Harm, a conservative advocacy group, is suing a website called ‘Find A Black Doctor’ and its owner for supposedly discriminating against physicians on the basis of race. It’s never enough for them to just have what they have, they have to take away what we have too.

Seeking culturally competent care is valid. Y’all are sick fr.

Anti-Muslim bigotry is escalating. But instead of treating it like an emergency, Republicans and Democrats alike continue creating permission structures that cost our Muslim family and friends their lives. It’s unconscionable and inexcusable.

This is Hawaa Abdullah speaking about her father, Amin Abdullah, who was one of three people murdered by white supremacists at the Islamic Center of San Diego yesterday. The attackers reportedly covered their weap0ns and clothing with Nazi imagery.

Their manifesto targeted Muslim people, Jewish people, Black people, LGBTQ+ people and more. Their hatred does not end with Muslim people. It never does.

The more I learn about how f*cked up and toxic our food system is, the more clear it becomes to me that food sovereignty is paramount for collective liberation.

22 Apr

My healthcare premium went up so much this year that I had to change my health insurance. Unfortunately, this meant I was no longer in network with my wonderful therapist of nearly 4 years. Today, after 4 months of a care lapse, I finally met with a new in-network therapist. And WHAT A RELIEF!

22 Apr

Therapy is such a powerful tool that everyone deserves to have.

In 2025 alone, there were 616 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced to U.S. state legislatures. SIX. HUNDRED. AND. SIXTEEN. As a Black, Jewish, and queer person, I know scapegoating and Christian nationalism when I see it.

28 Feb

POV: You just heard that two transgender residents of Kansas are suing the state after it invalidated their driver’s licenses without warning

28 Feb

So you’re telling me that child marriage is still legal in Kansas, but it’s illegal for a trans person to have a driver’s license or birth certificate with their aligned gender identity? This country is so a** backwards.

Trump lied to the nation tonight and said the SAVE Act will protect our elections from fraud. The truth? We don’t have a voter fraud issue, we have a voter suppression issue.

This act will require citizens to present a passport or birth certificate to vote, which 21 million Americans don't have access to. It was never about safe elections and always about silencing the most vulnerable.

What we got versus what we ordered

Congressman Al Green holding up a sign that says "Black People Aren't Apes" as Trump walked to the podium for SOTU is powerful symbolism. Last year he was censured for disrupting Trump's address, and this year he's bringing that same energy. This is good trouble.

MAGA: We're not a cult, stop calling us that! Also MAGA:

Reporting live from the Capitol! I guess this is just gonna be a diatribe of straight lies. Buckle in folks.

At this point if Trump being racist *shocks you* then you’ve either been living under a rock or you’re willfully ignorant. Regardless, I fear y’all are failing an open book test.

Much of the Midwest is under a severe weather advisory right now. Temperatures are in the negatives with wind chills as low as 25 below zero. I need you to understand how badass it is that thousands of people still showed up and showed out.

23 Jan

Massive anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis today draws thousands despite -10 degree weather. Their statewide strike calls for no work, no school, no shopping, and ICE out of Minnesota FOR GOOD. Cheering you on from Illinois!

23 Jan

Fled Cruz back at it again with his same old shenanigans. This time, fleeing to California while Texans brace themselves for a severe ice storm. It's giving me flashbacks to 2021 when we were freezing in our homes and he was jetting off to Cancún. A pitiful excuse for leadership.

Where one form of bigotry is tolerated, others will inevitably fester. Our liberation has never been individual. Our safety has never been siloed. Community is how we get free.

As a Black Jew, moments like this remind me why an intersectional lens is critical. This synagogue has long been a symbol of Black and Jewish solidarity. As both the only synagogue in Jackson and the largest synagogue in Mississippi, it carries tremendous symbolic weight.
