I’m the guy they hired to write all the archival Arthur Russell material. They actually ran out of Arthur Russell songs in 2011 and ever since it’s been me. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

People keep enthusiastically telling me that NYC theaters are quoting my Letterboxd reviews in their Instagram promo material like I’m supposed to care or be happy about it. I’m not a clout chaser and I’m not from NYC, I don’t care that Anthology Film Archives knows who I am as a poster.

I would much prefer they know me as the person who wrote them to learn more about the Sharits Frozen Film Frame they have on display if they know me at all - y’know, as a tourist deeply interested in & passionate about what they do rather than a part of their promo arm for screenings I can’t go to!

It’s cool that ITAOTS is good enough that they let Jeff get away with all the Anne Frank weirdness. If he’d written a third Two Headed Boy he’d have probably been able to commit a murder or two.

In honor of Brian Wilson someone should write a really good song called Steven Page about being arrested for cocaine possession at an airport as a metaphor for the singer’s emotional landscape.

Went to an “Arthur Russell Day” event a friend was playing at. Saw my friend & then immediately left when the next act was noisy performance art where a dude kept hitting a floor tom with ears of corn (I guess cus AR was midwestern & wrote about corn?). Felt like the shitty Graham Lambkin show I saw

I’m reading David Toop’s Haunted Weather and, unsurprisingly, Toop is *so weird* about Japanese art and artists. We need a book that discusses American sound art like this - fuck it, explain how John Cage’s innovations date back to the revolutionary atmosphere of the colonial era, why not?

Went to an art gallery to see some works by Channa Horwitz, but their main room was dedicated to a Carolee Schneemann show. I signed into the gallery’s guest book and the name above mine was Paris Hilton. Choosing to believe it was really her. I hope she’s a Schneeman/Horwitz fan too.

Often torn between thinking "Tortoise are so lucky to have Jeff Parker, a canonical modern jazz guitarist, in their band" & generally preferring the stuff they made before he joined up. Inside me two wolves. Two wolves, a tortoise and a guy named Jeff is a river crossing puzzle…

Discourse on X about how Andor might be Zionist because it made a reference to “Next year in Jerusalem.” Do these people even know there’s a genocide happening right now? Does it affect them at all? “I like Star Wars but it might be (((Zionist)))” - people are fucking dying, get serious! Good grief!

Made the mistake of mentioning my mental health in an FB post I intended to be funny and now everyone is care reacting instead of haha reacting, this is a disaster! Nobody understands me…

I’m gutted about David Thomas, a true canonical American artist - I’d even go so far as to compare him to Miles Davis considering just how far into the future he looked and how willing he was to push past his own boundaries into places unknown. The radio will set you free… RIP!

I can’t believe Dave Allen dying is how I found out that Ted Leo has replaced David Pajo in Gang of Four. That’s even more confusing than Pajo joining Gang of Four in the first place, which was already very confusing!

This is such an elementally perfect Twitter baitpost, I’m in awe. “Odd that otherwise progressive artists are so hawkish about a system that largely fails to protect their work, especially in the age of AI” becomes “erm, has anyone noticed artists are a reactionary class? 10/10, no notes. Love it.

Had a lot of convos on this subject around the time of the Internet Archive lawsuit - IA was pretty clearly violating copyright law regardless of whether or not you were on their side, but was suing them actually a win for artists or just a win for the letter of the law? Likely just the latter!

gotta say that hydroplaning off the edge of the world is the best destroyer single in ages, some real big emotions in that thing i didn't know dan could boogie about so directly. we are gathered here today to have a real nice time...

new destroyer album is called DAN'S BOOGIE, this is honestly the best omen for 2025 we've had so far

cataract time is kinda mid tho, sounds like the kaputt rehash everyone but me wants. good song and i'm sure will unfold with repeated listens but is nowhere near the level of hydroplaning off the edge of the world. what happened to that new phase he was promising...?

Started reading Agustín Fernández Mallo’s Nocilla Dream last night - opening epigraph has to be the most unbearable thing I’ve ever seen (which I promise I at least somewhat mean as a compliment - good grief!)
