As we close out 2025, we can honestly say it was a pretty shitty year for DC. Unprecedented attacks on Home Rule took place, exposing the fallacy of the term Home Rule. Never forget that #DCStatehood is the ultimate goal of DC residents who seek an equal footing & place in our democracy.

There are still troops in the streets of DC, pretty much doing nothing. It's not crime prevention, it's for show. It's an unnecessary waste of time and money (LOTS OF TAXPAYER MONEY). These troops should be at home with their families and back in their own communities, not ours.

In the Senate, there are now 43 cosponsors on the #DCStatehood bill and we have a great lead sponsor in @vanhollen.senate.gov! There's lots of work to do in the Senate, including getting @captmarkkelly.bsky.social & Sen. Angus King to cosponsor the bill too. www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...

And in 2026, we need to go on offense. DC residents & our allies around the country need to work our butts off to ensure there are #DCStatehood supporting majorities in the House & Senate. We don't just need allies protecting Home Rule, we need allies with an all hands on deck pursuit of statehood.
