Okada has been great but because people want him hitting 7 star matches weekly they always feel let down. Punk's great in-ring work needs at Brawl Out. He never had anything close to the Mox match following. Most of the Collision stuff is Cope level followed by a wildly overrated Joe match in UK.

I'm not even sure AEW Catchphrase Okada has been markedly better in-ring, to be honest. His baseline as a worker is so much better than Punk's that it probably has, but he has coasted so much. In-ring, Punk was a massive success at AEW. And that's not even counting the ratings and tix he moved.

If you are frustrated by people excited about Cope when him and Punk are basically mirror images of each other I get it. Cope has skirted out of losing to a non former WWE guy in a 1v1 since his debut. Neither guy is at the top of the roster for in ring.

I think it's worth taking into account that his neck's pretty badly messed up and he has back problems too; working the chickenshit heel style is adding to the length of time Big Match Okada is still able to deliver when necessary. Plus, he looks like he's enjoying himself a bunch lol.

I like Punk more than most but the idea he had a better in-ring output than most in AEW is bonkers to me. Better than Fletcher, Takeshita, Mark Briscoe, Swerve, Bandido, Christian, Ricochet, Joe etc. Punk had like 3 excellent matches in AEW, the rest being decent to very good.
