I love to play the first #SilentHill game every year. I will start another playthrough in my stream (German) this Saturday. 🎃 Yet, I realize again and again how much Silent Hill 2 overshadows the first one. And I think I know why. ➡️

I played Silent Hill 1 back in the early 2000s. SH2 had already been out for at least a year at that point, so I played it shortly after. SH1 really blew me away and left a lasting impression on me. The atmosphere was just so deep and entirely unique, and I found the story incredibly interesting.

When I moved on to the second game, the technical jump felt immense. The step in graphics was a very large one, the atmosphere was even denser, and the story felt much more tangible. That’s always been the core of it for me.

The story of SH2 is personal, gripping, it can be relatable, and really makes you piece things together and think. On a psychological level (especially regarding psychoanalysis), it's insanely interesting and can push you into philosophical territory.

Combined with the thick atmosphere and mysterious telling, it creates a mix that is unmatched for me to this day. That's what it's always been about for me. The game shaped me in a certain way that is hard to explain, and now is forever burned into my memory. And I absolutely love the remake. 😎
