Access to public or private security cameras by law enforcement or other agents of government should require a judge's ruling/permission. Private access is already illegal under privacy laws. Let judges decide if access to cameras breaks the law. I trust a judge more than police or corporations.

John Oliver told of a company which can monitor all your cellphone use by just setting up shop in a van somewhere in your vicinity and you’ll never know

A nationwide campaign of vandalism against these cameras is planned for the night before Halloween, previously called Devil’s Night, which will soon be known as Patriot’s Night.

Apparently Axon is starting to get their cameras installed throughout Canada. So I’m asking for a friend, do you know if there’s a local Devil’s Night club around Montreal?

Am I the only liberal that thinks this is a lost cause? Anything stopping any citizen from mounting a camera on their property, pointed wherever, recording whenever? Do you have a right to PRIVACY when you are out walking around in PUBLIC? Because 400+ l.e.o. satellites and I say: not anymore.

A problem with license plate readers or the misuse? If you think they are invading your privacy, don't leave the house. Hundreds of cameras are documenting everything every day. Stolen cars, stolen children, people committing crimes... let's toughen laws so people can't exploit them.

If we eliminate all the cameras that are obvious, they will just start hiding them or they will just switch to drones. This will be a war from here on out whether anybody likes it or not. Welcome to 1984

Dump wants a police state, he and the GOP want to know who you are, where you are, and what you are doing. If you don't agree with their agenda, ICE will come get you and put you in a concentration camp. VOTE BLUE, say No to the dump regime, the GOP magats, Hertitage Foundation-Project 2025.

Please stop calling them license plate readers. That is a small detail of what they do. How about: Invasive Vehicle Monitoring Citizen Harassment Systems 4th Amendment Shredders There are plenty of options but "license plate readers" isn't one of them. it just gives them cover to the real harm.

Out of curiosity is the ACLU pursuing legal action against these cameras regardless of the brand or our you simply getting involved in making people aware that they are violating our constitutional rights? You’re an advocacy group for our rights or has that role also changed with this admin? 🤷‍♂️

Here’s a little tid bit of questionable information for you. States paid for and equipped police vehicles with plate scanners. So tell us again why exactly it was necessary to install any brand of surveillance cameras because they definitely aren’t there to enforce the traffic laws.

Cheaper than posting a trap officer on every corner. This is why there was already some scuttlebutt in the police unions* about opposing them. Nothing tangible, mind you, because they like stalking their ex wives more than being employed, but whatever. *I do not consider them unions proper

The states caving to stalking their residents are the ones deserving attacks. It's one thing to use tech for good. Too often, we use it for the wrong things.

It appears that the so called 'law enforcement' entities in this country have mainly switched to "Trump Enforcement". Meaning that they can do whatever they want with impunity and getting rewarded when they worship Trump and use violence and instill fear.

What if someone invented something that could be painted (or placed) over your license plate so that police could still read it but what the cameras would see would be too fuzzy to read? Crazy idea, just thinking … 🤔
