While we are all worried about the ghost in the machine, we can’t forget about the men behind the keyboards when it comes to the future of AI. Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and Dario Amodei are all sounding the alarm, but we should ask ourselves why they might before we listen. (Link below)

Altruists these guys are NOT. Even so, their warnings should be treated seriously. Whether or not the tech guys are being self-serving, it's ALSO possible that the warnings could be helpful to all of us.

Amodei wrote essay on poem Machines of Loving Grace and the poem is about AI taking over and people becoming animals. All the early models turned into nazis.

Even if a BAD guy gives a warning, that warning could be valuable. We shouldn't neglect to check out a building just because it's Charles Manson who says it's on fire---it might actually be on fire. No matter what Manson's motives may have been, the warning could be real.

They are dangerous because they grew up as nerds and socially awkward where they have no idea how to behave in a normal society...They are begging for oversight because the nerds don't know how to navigate in a world where they are not accustomed to behave like a normal human being

I heard that kid who sat on the bench and blew the whistle described thusly: "man who spent the last 3 years designing large pots for boiling humans finally begins to feel alarmed and concerned that the pots he designed for boiling humans might, in fact, be used for boiling humans"

Come the fuck on. You should not be AS wary of the CEOs, you should be wary OF them. They created it, they pushed it forward, they ignored all the early advise to be wary, they stole all the knowledge in the universe, and NOW they are sounding the alarm.

Funny how we’ve allowed these literal techno nazis garner so much wealth from taxpayer revenue. Eminent domain should be applied to their state funded projects, and their wealth should be stripped via aggressive taxation

They are sounding the alarm because what they are building will actually work against them and take away their wealth. They’ve created their own Frankensteins.

Believe me when I say, we need to be far more wary of them than AI. A bigger pack of self-absorbed lunatics you will not find elsewhere.

The ghouls crying over ghoulish things. Either they are pumping the IPO or a method of distraction on the behalf of PedoDon and Iran’s disaster/gas prices etc. No one believes these people are the good guys.

I fear these words will come back to haunt all of us. There are agendas at play here that we have no clue about. The adage "guns don’t kill people, people kill people" comes to mind. Watch the techbro community like a hawk.

I get all the end of world scenarios people are painting for AI. My biggest fear is that ultimately it is controlled by a very small group of incredibly powerful people who will dictate what information everyone is capable of receiving.

Watch them. They’re psychopaths. Not in the hollywood movie serial killer sense. In the normal psychological definition sense. They can’t stop themselves.Cynicism is blinding some to a logical conclusion that is getting away from us. At some point we have no value in the equation AI will try to solve.

Nonesense. Just makes you wonder why they are worried about this but are okay with assisting in subverting electronic elections. THEY don't want to stop AI, they only want OTHERS to stop so they can either catch up or broaden their lead. Kinda like the now defunct START agreement. Unfortunate 4 us.

22 heads of state just signed a document at the UNGA saying that we need to slow down. So either the Prime Minister of Norway is in on the regulatory capture scheme somehow, or we should just listen to everyone and slow down.

It’s obvious why. They blew through trillions of their investors’ money and can’t turn a profit to recovery that. Now they are trying to craft a plan to stick the rest of us with that multi-trillion dollar loss. The wealthy have done this over and over again. And Congress bails them out every time.

Or we might recognize that AI is dangerous of our own accord and ignore them entirely. Amirite? Sure, they may have ulterior motives, but that doesn’t mean that AI is good or shouldn’t be heavily regulated.

I also think what makes them say we need to slow down is different than why most humans should reconsider rapidly expanding AI technology. I don’t trust Elon has an ounce of motivation outside of his own ego & self interests.
