I wake up and our silly little site about decompiling video games has made the news this article is extremely misleading, y'all should just read the statement on decomp.dev, but I digress

decomp.devSunsetting decomp.devAn update on the future of decomp.dev.

if the remake of TTYD didn't kill my interest in the original, I don't think this is going to either, I'm just gonna keep chipping away at my decomp until either it's done or I die I'm currently working on decompiling the compiler for this express purpose just to hopefully make my life easier

personally I'm more interested in the implications for security by obscurity, there's a looooot of companies that just....don't bother to make their shit secure (Flock) if AI is this good at decompiling games now, I shudder to imagine the impact of attacking stuff that actually matters

20 years ago, getting a zero day exploit was the sole discretion of nation-states and extremely talented weirdos in their basements and now pretty much anyone can find one and cause damage imagine the amount of bank you could make by selling companies the solution to their stuff being insecure

tbh the remake...p much hasn't changed much I'm still burnt out on the original, but tbh, given what I heard and seen of the remake...I wouldn't necessarily say it helped much? if anything, it made me realise how they missed a lot of what made the original special so keep going! llms can fuckoff
