I also wanna add QoL like a native Linux build and sjiswrap support so we have way less overhead, wanna eventually rewrite it in Rust cuz that's kinda my thing but that'll take a hot minute

Under very specific circumstances that are still plausible to occur during regular gameplay, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will undergo a "Mario Running Forever Softlock" whereby Mario will run in place eternally instead of ever starting his turn.

I know there’s chewy discourse here but I’m still tripping over 75 being a ‘small’ core team for a racing game!

GamesIndustry.biz@gibiz.bsky.social

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

I wake up and our silly little site about decompiling video games has made the news this article is extremely misleading, y'all should just read the statement on decomp.dev, but I digress

personally I'm more interested in the implications for security by obscurity, there's a looooot of companies that just....don't bother to make their shit secure (Flock) if AI is this good at decompiling games now, I shudder to imagine the impact of attacking stuff that actually matters

20 years ago, getting a zero day exploit was the sole discretion of nation-states and extremely talented weirdos in their basements and now pretty much anyone can find one and cause damage imagine the amount of bank you could make by selling companies the solution to their stuff being insecure

if the remake of TTYD didn't kill my interest in the original, I don't think this is going to either, I'm just gonna keep chipping away at my decomp until either it's done or I die I'm currently working on decompiling the compiler for this express purpose just to hopefully make my life easier

This is also a piece of context people forget about software engineering. A lot of us were able to get into this in no small part because it was free to do. It is hard to be too precious about intellectual property when you are deeply indebted to those who were willing to freely share theirs.

it is really hard to not hold this position whenever i was able to build a career for myself with absolutely zero education in the field. i didn't have to buy any books, pay for any classes. everything that i know was learned through free information that was accessible to me starting at the age 10

one of these days I need to get more involved in Denver's communities since they have to exist, would love to play the home game some day

yeeeep

the linux kernel in particular is interesting, but from friends who work at other large orgs shipping mission critical software/firmware, they have not had the same experience and have basically been working 24/7 since they got on Glasswing last spring/summer

The film is written, directed, and co-stars Hitoshi Ozawa, a legendary Yakuza actor who is a villain in Yakuza 0, who got his fellow legends involved. This was his passion project inspired by one of his best friends, a trans woman, and he worked with the community for representative casting.

THE CLANS HEIR IS A TRANS WOMAN (2013) is like Steven Seagal decided to Write/Direct/Star in a love letter to his trans friends, but it looks and feels like every action movie he's made... except Hitoshi Ozawa is way way way way cooler than Seagal.
