The family of Wael Dahdou, Al Jazeera's Gaza bureau chief, was killed by an Israeli air strike on Nuseirat refugee camp on October 25th, 2024.

"They said that we have five minutes to leave the building... So we grabbed our children, and we left."

Thousands of other families were trying to flee Gaza City at the same time.

"Those who were killed, everything was left on the ground, for the people who were crossing to see. I made my children promise me they would not look at the ground at all. Not once."
