This moment is the culmination of a career in information design, data visualization, and education that began in Spain in 1997. I believe that nothing I’ve done until now—the graphics I've designed, my classes, books, public talks, or MOOCs—matches the ambition and potential impact of the OVA. 2/x

For many years, I’ve dreamed of creating a platform where anyone could learn data literacy and visual communication. Thanks to my position as Knight Chair at the University of Miami, I’ve finally been able to turn that dream into reality. 3/x

We are launching with seven video courses and software tutorials, including my core course, Introduction to Visualization. Beginning in February, we’ll publish at least one new course every month. In April, I’ll also launch and lead a brand-new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). 4/x
