Great news. Can you fix trending terms? You had this earlier for a LONG time as voter suppression & disinformation as a trending term during voting when no counting was done 1. Farage wins Clacton seat Count Binface also stood; Reform UK's biggest donor faces scrutiny over Kremlin ties. 1.4K posts

Thanks for the latest updates, Alex. Great work from the team. πŸ™ And speaking about videos, I hope someday the issue of video and audio getting out of sync after using the time bar gets fixed. 😒 It's a bit annoying.

Do you still have to keep the app open in the foreground while media uploads? Or is it finally fixed so uploads can happen in the background while using the phone to do other stuff? This is a continual frustration when trying to post while traveling, though more commonly with photos than video.

Any chance we get the app to stop playing videos once you tap on the X and return to the feed? That would be GREAT!

that's amazing news bc I genuinely can't wrap my head around it. I don't think I've ever seen any app do video uploads this fast. IG & TikTok just have uploads happen in the background bc they take ~a minute, and they only have one source of truth whereas you have to upload to both the pds and cdn.

At a high level we... - Optimized client compression - Moved clients to a new multipart upload architecture - Refactored backend video encoding to run on GPUs - Optimized our encoding steps - Migrated video backend to new hardware - Fixed PDS uploadBlob performance and reliability issues and more!

want to second this question. it's the biggest obstacle to posting on the ground when covering breaking news, where every second (or minute) counts.

good question, i asked the team. i don't believe this update addressed backgrounding directly, although some of the other changes we made may help indirectly. will follow up.

ok verified, we haven't added better support for the "uploading a video while app is backgrounded" case, though it should upload much faster now while the app is in the foreground. good to know this is a need though. i've shared it with the team
