The question for Nigel Farage now is whether it's less embarrassing to un-resign and claim that was an establishment stitchup, or to spend a month competing with a bin. Neither is exactly a *great* option. Neither solves his ongoing scandals. And it's a mess entirely of his own making.

Is there genuinely no one but Binface lining up? Because I, and thousands like me are prepared to converge on Clacton every single day for the next few months to campaign for the bravest, most principled and talented anti-establishment figure I know. And his name does not rhyme with garage.

Labour, LibDems, Tories, Greens and Restore have all opted out. There's almost certainly going to be a bunch of no-hopers from parties nobody's ever heard of standing but Binface is likely to be this generation's Martin Bell

Exciting opportunity for new parties to get some exposure too...

Considering standing as an MP in Clacton for the "OurNige is really quite corrupt isn't he, gosh, just such unbelievable graft all round, wow, and so thin-skinned too" party. £500 to have the returning officer read that out next to him feels like great value.

They're all waiting for the second by-election, after the standards committee concludes their investigation and suspends him. Although hopefully at that point, they will converge on a unity candidate, rather than all competing against each other. Maybe encourage Giles Watling to come back!

Sure. But in a delightful Aesop’s Fables manner, I genuinely think Binface could win it if no one else stands. And I’m hard pressed to think of anything that would make me happier.
