Exactly! Lately I have taken to sending "Do not do business with Elon and his companies" to global media (Nikkei - Japan, Le Monde -- France, Guardian and FT -- UK, etc.)

I set up a FB account in 2013. Took it down within a few months. Moved to Twitter but didn’t use it much. Then it went off the rails so I came here. So far I’ve had no trolls or issues with anyone.

I told a friend that I left fb in 2016 and didn’t want to give a dime to zucker. She explained to me that she never buys anything advertised on fb 🙄

I once bought something from a Facebook ad. It was a scam. Facebook was not at all cooperative in solving the problem, though I was happy that Pay Pal helped me. They only required me to file a complaint with the USPS about the fraud. That was all it took for me to stop buying or recommending Meta.

Agree, it is time to really commit - though this is much easier said than done with FB’s profiling and tracking technology. Even people without meta accounts can be profiled. I set my Apple devices on the highest security settings, and use antivirus software too.

Also never use Facebook and Instragram in the first place. Delete your accounts (if you have any) and the the two apps on your smartphone.

Why not delete your account from EVERY Meta site? You can’t complain about what Zuck’s doing and then justify to yourselves why you remain there, because that’s just pure hypocrisy. As long as the numbers remain, he/they win.

My thoughts are to stay off Facebook altogether. I don’t have it and signed up at one point and never used it. I am surviving!

Thank you for this. I’m extremely reluctant to delete my Facebook because it holds so many memories and in some cases is my only point of contact with old friends. The algorithm knows me far too well and almost always pitches me products I want to buy, but I will resist!

My family also uses Messenger to video chat.. That is the only reason I haven't deleted my profile entirely. Good for you!!

And it just pisses me off that they create these fabulous things that can really add so much good to society, and then they use them for nefarious purposes.

Still we often have people close to us to convince. I mostly use Matrix, Telegram and Delta Chat. But my wife and daughter refuse, so I need to be on Whatsapp too.

The amount they charge for adds is partly based on their DAUs and MAUs (ie active users). So just having an account and logging in still helps them even if you don’t click on anything. You need to delete your accounts
