Kushner took a $50 mn bribe from the Emiratis to orchestrate the firing of Rex Tillerson as secretary of state, according to Matt Cole's new book, Princes and Thieves, out today. To be clear, this is a serious felony, if true.
Alaska authorities strongly oppose the Trump DOJ’s attempted “interference” in the election.
This is significant because there were concerns the state—which sought to DQ the second Sullivan—would take the same side.
But it didn’t. Quite the contrary. buff.ly/EJHtDpX

1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets
The good news is that we are winning in court. The bad news is that we have to win every case. Trump only needs to subvert one election to break democracy.
Election officials in Alaska are asking a federal judge to "immediately" dismiss the Trump DOJ's lawsuit seeking to block the Senate results, claiming it has "no legal basis."
"[T]he United States lacks authority to intervene in state elections at all, much less in support of a favored candidate."
🚨BREAKING: We have moved for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction enjoining Trump from continuing to unconstitutionally impose themselves upon election administration procedures that the Constitution and federal law assign to the States.
🚨BREAKING: In a blow to the DOJ, the 9th Circuit rejected its request to bypass a lower court to bar California from counting around 20k ballots from people it alleges are "likely" noncitizens.
The ruling comes the night before the parties are scheduled to have a hearing before a lower court.
BREAKING: Judge Reyes has issued a preliminary injunction over the golf course and begins with this:
"Rarely, if ever, has the United States Department of Justice urged a federal court not to believe the sitting President."

As FBI Director, he absolutely had the authority to direct those staffers to do that. He was an OCA, he could do that.
This case is garbage on procedure and on substance.
Trump’s DOJ has charged James Comey AGAIN, this time under the Espionage Act over a 2016 New York Times story. In DOJ’s own words, Comey had staff talk to a reporter to “correct misinformation” in a Reuters article.
The Trump administration has brought a third criminal case against former FBI Director James Comey, this time accusing the longtime target of President Donald Trump of unlawfully transmitting national defense information to the press a decade ago. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
In the last few weeks, the Trump admin has:
🔺 Tried to stop California from counting 20k ballots
🔺 Preemptively sued Alaska from certifying results of a key race — if the Republican loses
🔺 Inserted itself into Michigan's election
That’s not all. Here's how it's already meddling in the midterms 👇
Back on 10/16, Comey filed a motion to dismiss, noting the statute of limitations requires an INDICTMENT within 10 years, not charges on information. Plus this issue was already investigated twice and it was determined that charges were unwarranted. 2/
Correct decision. Won’t change anything. They will take it to Supreme Court. Supreme Court will turn it down. Then Comey will have to force them to pay and rehire her. Then they will pay but not rehire. Then…there is NO STOPPING the Repugnantcans without impeachment.
One of most interesting pro-voter maneuvers this fall:
After facing years of attacks against popular initiatives, organizers in Missouri and Montana are pushing two measures this November that'd give their states arguably the strongest legal protections in the country for direct democracy:
🚨 BREAKING: Democrats asked a federal court to throw out the DOJ's unprecedented lawsuit that seeks to preemptively block certification of Alaska’s U.S. Senate race if the Republican incumbent loses.
NEW: Maricopa County will restore 25 voters’ registrations after they were falsely flagged as noncitizens, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) announced.
Mayes sued Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap (R) Thursday, demanding that he add the voters back to the registration rolls.
Judge Furman rules that Maureen Comey's firing violated separation of powers. Orders backpay. Govt's arguments violate 2 centuries of SCOTUS rulings & would "unsettle the equilibrium established by this Nation's constitutional system."

OK, but is it really Vivek's fault that the husband of the woman asking him the question they wanted to highlight happens to be a convicted child molester?
Sure, that's back-to-back ads featuring women who stood by their child-predator men, but that could happen to anyone, right?
Right?

This is the part they never say out loud: immigration judges work for the DOJ. The prosecutor is the judge's boss. When she would not play along, they did not argue the case. They benched their own ref. A court where one side can swap the judge mid-game is not a court.
Trump's DOJ told a judge how to rule. Then it pulled her from court.
Karen Donoso Stevens' allegations, which she's sharing publicly because of her deep concern for the court's integrity, were corroborated by contemporaneous notes as well as colleagues, family and attorneys interviewed by WaPo.
Attn: USPS changes mean your ballot may not be postmarked the same day you mail it. Don’t wait until Election Day! Deadlines vary by state. Some require ballots to ARRIVE by Election Day, not just be postmarked.
Here is the TLDR of the 9th Circuit hearing:
DOJ will lose.
It will be either 2-1 or 3-0.
It will be on jurisdiction and perhaps on the merits.
The argument was a debacle for Trump and the DOJ lawyer who argued it.

🚨 BREAKING: Lula is projected to WIN reelection as president of Brazil, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro and an ally of Donald Trump.
The projection comes just ONE DAY after Reuters exposed a Trump administration effort to help return the Bolsonaro family to power.

I'm going to start this thread on the presidential count in Brazil—so people who are interesting can follow along.
With 3% of vote counted, Lula up 51.3 to 48.7 (that's a lead of 103K). Pattern in 2022 & in R1 was Lula down big at 1st, then closing gap, but that's shaken up by today's 2-hour delay.
NEW: DOJ just admitted in court that their lawsuit against California is not about outcome determinative issues, it's simply saying that a single non-citizen voting causes the government irreparable harm. That's bananapants.
OK - AUSA Donnelly: The purpose is to preempt the illegal vote before it happens.
Judge Sanchez: What is your jurisdiction to be in this court?
AUSA Donnelly: Equitable jurisdiction.
Judge Bennett: Can the District go forward Tuesday if we haven't ruled?
A: No

Not to ruin anyone’s Sunday afternoon, but Brazilians are voting for president today. We’ll start getting returns at 4pm ET, and, based on the results of the first round it’d be a clear surprise if Lula survives against Bolsonaro — even if polls have tightened in the last two weeks.
[But wait! Here's Judge Bumatay!]
Judge Bumatay: But maybe this isn't subject to the prohibition on commandeering. Does it matter it was passed as part of the INA?
AUSA Donnelly: There is other authority.
Judge Bumatay: The 20,000 - is that just LA County?
No
Judge Sanchez: Don't we have a 10th Amendment problem here?
AUSA Donnelly: This is not commandeering. We are not asking for votes not to be counted, only to be segregated
[Note: Judge Bumatay has yet to ask a question - will he, to the defendant-appellees?]
