If you hit a dog, it's animal abuse. If you hit your spouse, it's spousal abuse. If you hit an old person, it's elder abuse. If you hit your child, it's just called parenting. That needs to end Children are not property and have the right not to be beaten.

I got my butt smacked as a child. I lost privileges, got grounded, was disciplined. I turned out to be a fully functioning adult. There are many ways, but all children need discipline and guidance. Free range child rearing produces bullies and criminals.

I absolutely agree! I got spanked, my kids got spanked (way less that me) and I NEVER, EVER spanked my grandkids (not part of my job, my job was the no-holds -barred chocolate cupcakes and ice cream), but their parents did. Not one of us was physically or emotionally harmed.

Probably because any kind of hitting actually is violence. Sure, it’s not punching or kicking, but it’s still violence. If a stranger or an acquaintance gave you a hard slap on the ass, you’d probably consider it battery.

Then, I’ve seen some pretty violent 2 and 3 year olds and let me tell ya’, I know for a fact most of them NEVER got a spanking. I watched my adopted grandson (5 yrs.) go over to a little girl and shove her to the ground and this is a little guy who was never disciplined with a spank.

Have you seen a mother cat discipline her unruly kittens with a backpawed slap? Did you know a mother dog will run off her female offspring at a certain age? It’s all a part of growing up, humans aren’t that much different. I’m pretty sure donald tRump never got spanked and look how he turned out.
