what's wild is that i'm pretty sure if you're a CA elected, you could just decide on your own to get behind some worker-oriented film industry shit or even (wild idea!) propose your own without licking every-ass inch of this specific boot, and yet here we are

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

I am in strong agreement with the President. Congress should immediately take up and pass a federal film tax incentive to bring back these good-paying jobs that we've lost to other countries.

Not to mention that ICE has been in LA for OVER a year kidnapping people. Or that Trump supports the right-wing consolidation of our media destroying more industry jobs. But it's more important for Schiff to appear bipartisan. What a fucking douche.

Honestly though, I think the incentive amount to try and woo back features and TV would need to be so incredibly high, that it would be financially catastrophic. It isn't just competing with another country's tax incentive. it's...

competing with a Grip costing $200USD/day & that country having single payer healthcare. it's competing with that country having all the latest equipment, or equipment that's good enough... with a crew who is highly energetic, eager and skilled enough and in cities that are film friendly

Like "I'm glad the president agrees that < x > is necessary to boost our local film industry, which is why I've proposed < x details > that he should obviously endorse" is right there
