Are you guys still allowed to teach that climate is changing, the world is getting hotter, and fossil fuel burning is the principal cause? With all the crazy stuff going on in red states, it's hard to know what it's like in the trenches. I hope your department hasn't been too badly affected.

It is a shame that they have pulled your courses out of the core curriculum, but I'm glad that you still get to teach and do research on this material. So much good stuff has come out of A&M. MIT, where I'm spending half my time these days, is an interesting case. The administration, of course,

is strongly supportive of climate science education and research, with numerous courses on offer, and the MA legislature has largely not been interfering with higher education. However, because of the nature of MIT and its mission, the "core" such as it is focuses on fundamentals in physics, math,

One of my red-state colleagues, a tenured professor teaching an intro Earth science class, was threatened with discipline by his dean because a student reported him for teaching as fact that the Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. It's gotten that crazy.

I know that a lot of the state-imposed restrictions have focused on race and gender (and that's bad enough) but haven't heard whether climate physics has become a target.
