Had a similar approach with the Paper app—in-app settings to adjust every aspect (positions, lighting, shadows), state buttons to test transitions, and a way to send all values off to my team. Only way to dial in so many interdependent values and get things just right. (Paper, 2012)

My favorite way to fine-tune transitions is to build a set of sliders into a prototype to tweak timing parameters on device, as you're using it.

Loved Paper back in the day, so it really lights me up that this piece of UI/UX wisdom popped up in my feed -- 12 years later. Respect to the craft and to you for sharing this. Made my day!

This approach really paid off—Paper is one of the best apps ever made for the iPad. Back in the day, I convinced so many people to buy an iPad just by showing them how I used Paper. Sadly, all that brilliant work has been abandoned, especially after the app changed hands.
