As someone who cried as soon as I heard of Steve's passing ( and I've never even seen him in person) you quite elegantly put into words exactly how I feel about all of this.
It’s the most minor of things, but IBM didn’t sell the Nazis mainframes. They absolutely would have if they existed, but instead IBM leased punch card tabulators and related.
trump is just going to keep "inviting" these CEOs to come and kiss his ass at regular intervals because he loves the attention and show of power
and they will just keep showing up

I worked for Apple for several years, best job I ever had. I sold my stock immediately when I saw what Tim Cook groveling to a dictator. Disgusting. I will never forget what he did.
As a long-time denizen of the Walled Garden I’m pretty pissed too. However I also have to ask what things would look like right now if Cook hadn’t bent the knee. A tariff regime on electronics that didn’t include carve-outs for the biggest American companies would break the US economy, even
before retaliation by the nations where the phones are made. We’re not just talking about threats to the oligarchs’ revenue here, we’re talking about a massive regressive tax on the American people as well. The only saving grace about Trump’s tariffs has been that they’ve been focussed on
Tim Cook abandoned any morals he may have had to kiss up to the paedo pres, on the off chance he might get something in return.
It’s fucking sickening and I hope he faces the consequences.
I agree with the spirit of the post, but do we have any direct evidence that Steve Jobs wouldn't have done the same were he alive today? It's not uncommon for people with more radical backgrounds to abandon those once they get money + power (e.g. Clarence Thomas)
Reading the (sparse) tea leaves from his later years, I don't get a clear picture as to what his personal political values were, and I'm not sure that he'd be one to take a principled stand in a way that ultimately works against capital interests
mention Jobs "probable future behavior" is like tabs v spaces that guy was all over the place at different times of his life and career. He brought the company to destruction TWICE and also was instrumental in figuring out the devices that saved the company. :-)
