it has been a long time, but I had good luck getting in the longest ticket line I could find, and then just yapping with other people in line about what shows were good, what they were looking forward to, etc. also be willing to walk out, at least at intermission

(that last bit maybe controversial, but I feel like frees you up to be more adventurous)
