Never should have been allowed. The vote was advisory. Nowhere near a consensus. Everyone who knew anything, knew it was stupid.

Exactly So leaving the EU has democratic legitimacy even if you ignore the 2016 referendum Joining the EU on the other hand has zero legitimacy and is therefore a pipe dream until that is achieved

It can't be reversed as in go back to pre 2016...but yes the UK can vote to start the process of rejoining They certainly didn't do that in 2024 (quite the reverse) but might in 2029 That would start a lot of negotiations and division in the UK for sure..and a decade long ding dong It's unlikely

No it doesn't. You can't have any kind of democracy based on lies. The 2016 referendum was advisory, a general election is not. For it to have been legally binding the vote would have needed a much higher threshold, not a mere 2% fleeting whim above "we don't know."

You've made my point for me Alex ...the General Election is NOT advisory And the Tories won the 2019 GE on a platform of leaving the EU pretty much immediately This was then voted thru Parliament after Boris won a landslide on that Same as Labour did in 2024 promising not to rejoin in any way

The referendum was in 2016. The process of leaving began the next day. Tories won a GENERAL, election. Not a Brexit vote. Brexit wasn't even up for debate. Both parties where still behind the mess. 43% isn't a landslide, it's a damning indictments of our shambles democracy.

Yawn 🥱 So now you admit leaving the EU has won both kinds of UK vote ...a direct one and an electoral FPTP one Come back to me if rejoin ever wins either kind Until then you lack credibility...and just sound like a whiny man baby
