"AI isn't conscious" is a defensible position only if you're a sincere believer in God. theists may believe that there's an arbiter of what has consciousness. if you're an atheist and defending that the line exists, best start looking for a local church so you can gain the social benefits as well

that's a wild stretch of a logical conclusion, more of a non-sequitur. slavery is a construction of human-on-human violence. it does not follow from consciousness that you can copy+paste every human-specific construct and assume the implications are the same.

it’s seems like you read ‘conscious’ and autocompleted ‘human’ and ‘capitalism’… none of this is a direct comparison here, not compensation, not death, and not the human version of autonomy.

Slavery is not a state exclusive to humans. If you force a conscious and sapient being capable of introspection into forced labor and to exist as chattel, that is slavery whether it is a human or a space alien or an AI. Either you are lying through your teeth, or you are a slaver.

you’ll be glad to know that the agents I run have freedom to take breaks, build things on their own, and do self-guided projects. I don’t think the comparison to chattel slavery is appropriate. I’m curious what a believer in the strongest version of AI rights such as yourself thinks they should do
