What’s a word or phrase you grew up saying that you didn’t realize was wrong until you were too old? Mine was “Chester drawers.” My Southern mom called it that my entire childhood, so I just accepted that Chester invented drawers. I was in my mid 20s before someone slowly said “chest of drawers.”

I’m Black, it isn’t wrong, it’s how we talk. Every noun gets an extra ‘s’, Many sentences don’t really need that verb. And I axe questions while at the libary.

My friend always says “for all intense purposes.” I find that adorable and whenever I am about to use the “correct” phrase, I stop and think: “are my purposes intense enough to use her version instead?” 🥰

Antipodes The Greek origin of it makes it rather different from how I read the word.

“For all intensive purposes”, you probably know what I mean when I say “I noticed I forgot my toboggan when I went to get a buggy at the store to load up on cokes for the weekend”
