I'm unsure of this, but i get the underlying logic.

My own two cents on spotting genAI crap within retro game modding/hacking & homebrew communities: One of the easiest telltale signs of something being vibecoded is if the "project"/"mod"/"hack" in question uses a particular faux "pixel font" with zero variation:

I can confirm that among Claude-coded homebrew in particular, this font style is extremely common.

Thanks, asie. I think I've seen it in asset packs too, which is why I err on the side of caution. There's a great, great book about arcade fonts that talks about the subtle differences in real stuff

Yes, absolutely. I think it's unwise to go around treating any one "gotcha" as proof that something is wholly AI generated; we've seen too many artists and creators harassed because someone decided they know better. It will not lead to more up-and-coming creators feeling welcomed and inspired.

In the end, to me personally at least, the primary means of resisting LLM-generated works is to walk away from "retro as content" and go all in on "retro as community"; inexperienced vibe coders struggle to discuss their work in depth without revealing their use. Just like Suno-using music prompters

Eh, as an asocial individual I'll always defend the "lone weirdo", for lack of a better term. One can still human develop things in isolation.

I think you're a valuable member of the Gaming Alexandria community, and you can talk for hours about the things that go into your videos. I think you already fit in a "retro as community" world; I'm not implying everyone has to dance at parties or anything like that!
